PEACFUL PROTEST Y J Z

Peaceful Protest

By John Zangas

I met you on the grass
At half past the moon
In a park on K Street
Where the stars were falling
Out of the sky.
And you promised me then
A new world was possible.
Together we marched
A peaceful protest
Arm on arm
Hand on hand.
Our sweat intermingled, fell
And kissed the tar
And the tar kissed us back-
And our bodies-Oh!
We were unstoppable!
Our movement trespassed
The long straight streets
And curled around
Our crooked resigns.
We surrendered our liberty
We traded our peace
We gave us our time
On a brown patch of grass.
At half past the moon
In a park on K Street
We pushed the stars
Out of the sky.
